5k Color Run

The Color Run race makes a fun fitness activity for all fitness levels! This healthy and creative race is perfect for a creative Color Run Race Date for couples!

5k Color Run

We have been all about the themed, fun 5k’s lately! Get in shape, enjoy endorphins, and make an awesome memory together- you bet! That’s why we couldn’t resist The Color Run date together!

Even though I knew it would be an extra run on top of a huge marathon training week I decided I just couldn’t pass up The Color Run! I’ve had many friends run it and sing its praises. I decided during my birthday month and it was something I really wanted to do.

Blisters weren’t the only thing trying to force us out, it was pouring rain all night and into the morning of the run. It actually poured all day, not a common sight in AZ! We decided we were going to brave it and got ready, at this point we knew very little about how cold and wet we would be, we just knew that Color Run tattoos are cool.

What to Wear to the Color Run Race

Ready for The Color Run: what to wear to a color run race.
Wearing white is always a great choice for the 5k Color Run! You’re going to be collecting colors, and having a blank canvas is ideal.
Wear clothes you can comfortably run in, but try to make at least your shirt a solid white.

And when we met Jacob’s co-worker Kevin and his wife Dana, we had an idea of how wet we would be before we even hit the starting line, pretty wet- most our shirts are already transparent (yikes). But we’re still glad we went with white, even with a rainy race day.

How competitive is the 5k?

Honestly, not very. There are no winners, and it’s meant to be a party.

Our only complaint was the number of walkers, so many strollers and walking groups that were blocking the entire path made it really hard to jog. I guess if you’re super into running it could be frustrating. However, for most people, this is probably a great thing! Even with this slowness that forced us to run like we were playing Frogger, we finished in less than 30 minutes. But maybe because it was that cold! But it was also that fun, even in a pretty crowded, wet, cold area.

What is the Color Run?

The Color Run is a 5k race that combines the concept of a Holi Festival of Colors with a 5k race.
About every half mile there was a color station with powder a certain color that they threw on you.
As you run, you collect colors and a fun change up to a traditional 5k.

Color Run Date: a fun active date idea for any fitness level!

It was a fun run, a great Color Run date, and if it’s not so wet and freezing next year, we’ll gladly do it again! Which is great news, because it looks like The Color Run 2023 is finally returning!

Just found your blog!! I have been doing a family blog for a few years now, but I just decided to add a blog for our date nights. So, your blog is basically my inspiration right now. 🙂 I would love for you to check it out and be maybe my second follower. Haha! You have to start somewhere right?! 🙂 Can't wait to see more posts!

So much fun! You are so cool for doing this! The color run is coming here next weekend, I think, and there's a deal on living social . . . . It sounds so fun (I would be a walker, though). But I know Scott is not interested by any means, and I don't have a friend to drag along . . . . Maybe it will be a goal for next year. :). By the way, love the 'stache

  3. I hope you have a blast- and better weather!

This race looks so much fun I am training for a color run in March! I only wish my husband would train with me! But he said he would walk it at least! Just can't wait!
