I'm kind of a cyclical eater when it comes to breakfast. I'll eat the same thing everyday for about 6 months, then change to something new, and inevitability go back to my favorites during my rotation. In high school, freshman year of college, and my 2nd year teaching I relied heavily on Carnation Breakfast Essentials powder to get me through. I love their ease of use (I'm always running late), the variety of flavors, and the fact there's 13 grams of protein in a serving- that's like a dream for your blood sugar to stay up all morning!
I'm recycling this favorite back into my life right now, I just grabbed a pack at Safeway last week, and I'm introducing Jacob to this former love too. But this time, I'm kicking it up a notch and getting creative and teaching my Vitamix how to court this delicious favorite to create a delicious smoothie love child.
Chocolate Almond Banana Breakfast Smoothie for 2:
2 packets Carnation Breakfast Essentials- milk or dark chocolate (dark is my favorite)
2 cups unsweetened vanilla almond milk or cow's milk
1.5 cups of ice
3-4 TBSP almond butter
Add milk, ice, almond butter, and bananas in a blender.
Mix well until banana and ice are pureed and texture is smooth.
Then pour in your Carnation Breakfast Essentials packs, and mix until fully incorporated.
Pour your smoothies into cups, and remember that every beverage tastes better when a cute straw is involved.
